Coimbatore: The Libas Tailoring Institute for Women, run by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Coimbatore, held its convocation ceremony at Karumbukkadai on Thursday. The institute, which has been serving the community for 20 years, runs its programs at four locations: Karumbukkadai, Pilliyarpuram, Selvapuram, and Vellalore.
The event commenced with an invocation by Sister Sumaiya, who sought blessings from Almighty Allah for the ceremony’s success. The gathering was welcomed by M. Abdul Hakeem, the Public Relations Secretary of JIH Coimbatore.
In her presidential address, Zaheena Ahmed, the leader of JIH Coimbatore women’s wing, emphasized the importance of self-employment for women, particularly those facing societal challenges. She highlighted the institute’s efforts to empower women by enhancing their financial independence and ensuring their respect in society.
Dr. Vidhya Rajan, founder of the Virtual Rescue Force and associated with ELCE Medical Foundation, graced the event as a Guest of Honor. She encouraged the women to pursue their careers with determination and to confront challenges with courage.
Farzana Akbar, Associate Manager at Accenture Technology Center, congratulated the graduates and provided insights into becoming successful entrepreneurs. Dr. Nida Saleem, Co-founder and Managing Director of Healing Touch Rehab, also addressed the gathering, extending her congratulations to the trained women of the institute.
Thanga Raj, a trainer at CDTP Women’s Polytechnic College, advised the graduates to proudly showcase their certificates and utilize their skills to their fullest potential.
A special address was delivered by Moulavi Mohammed Ismayil Imdadi, Secretary of the Department of Human Resource Development at JIH. He spoke on the theme “Morality is Freedom,” urging women to uphold moral values even as they advance in education and status, to protect themselves from societal crimes.
The program, coordinated by Mrs. Sharmila, Secretary of the JIH women’s wing, concluded with the awarding of certificates to 140 trained women, marking the successful completion of their courses at the institute.
