Congress Announces Nationwide ‘Jai Bapu-Jai Bhim-Jai Samvidhan’ Campaign

– Abdul Bari Masoud

New Delhi: In response to Union Minister Amit Shah’s controversial remarks about Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in Parliament, the Congress party has announced a nationwide campaign titled ‘Jai Bapu-Jai Bhim-Jai Samvidhan’. The initiative aims to expose alleged disrespect by the BJP and RSS towards Dr. Ambedkar and the Indian Constitution. The party has also released a pamphlet to support this campaign.

As part of the movement, district-level chaupals will be established to educate people with historical context about alleged conspiracies undermining the rights of 90% of the population.

Speaking at a press conference at AICC headquarters, Congress spokesperson and Media and Publicity Department Chairman, Pawan Khera, announced plans for a massive rally on January 26 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Dr. Ambedkar.

Khera criticised the government for not addressing Amit Shah’s comments made in Parliament on December 17. He expressed disappointment that Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only refrained from demanding Shah’s resignation but also appeared to support him, making the Prime Minister complicit in the perceived insult to Dr. Ambedkar.

Khera accused the RSS and its political arm, the BJP, of harbouring long-standing hostility toward Dr. Ambedkar and his work. He highlighted instances of RSS supporters allegedly burning effigies of Ambedkar and calling the Constitution “un-Indian.”

Further, Khera alleged that during the BJP’s decade-long rule, there have been continuous efforts to undermine the Constitution and glorify Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin. He also noted the disturbing trend of temples being built in Godse’s honour.

“The Congress has a duty to educate the new generation about our legacy and to fight to preserve our glorious heritage,” Khera stated.

As part of its ongoing efforts, the Congress had organised 150 press conferences across the country on December 22-23 to highlight alleged BJP-led attacks on Ambedkar and the Constitution.

This campaign underscores the Congress party’s commitment to countering what it perceives as systematic attempts to erode constitutional values and insult national icons.
