New Delhi: The Congress party has demanded a fair and time-bound judicial inquiry into the death of 26-year-old software engineer Anandu Aji from Kerala, who died by suicide after accusing members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of sexually and physically abusing him as a child. The party also criticised the Kerala government for not naming the RSS in the First Information Report (FIR).
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera questioned why the FIR omitted any mention of the RSS despite Anandu’s detailed allegations in his social media post. “Why is the administration afraid of an unregistered organisation when there is clear evidence of abuse?” he asked. Khera said Anandu’s case exposes “the darkness that hides behind the façade of cultural nationalism,” warning that millions of children attending RSS camps might be at risk.
Khera also targeted top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, for maintaining silence despite being lifelong RSS members. He criticised the RSS for operating without registration while enjoying political influence. “If the system fears an unregistered organisation, it must hang its head in shame,” he said.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also demanded a transparent probe. In a statement, she said that allegations of rampant sexual abuse within RSS-run camps must be investigated thoroughly. “Sexual abuse of boys is as widespread as that of girls, and the silence around it must end,” she stated.
The Congress has urged both the Kerala and Union governments to ensure justice for Anandu and accountability from the RSS. “This case is not only a tragedy,” Khera said, “it is a warning about the dangers of unchecked power and the silence that shields it.”
