Baran: The Congress Minority Department in Baran district has submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, urging President Droupadi Murmu to take strict legal action against Yati Narsinghanand for his blasphemous remarks about Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The department is calling for the invocation of the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) or Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) in response to Narsinghanand’s comments, which have deeply hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community.
Shahid Iqbal Bhati, a prominent Congress youth leader, emphasized the need for immediate legal measures against Narsinghanand, saying India has long been a land of communal harmony, where people of all faiths have coexisted peacefully. He warned that certain individuals are now attempting to disrupt this harmony by provoking religious tensions and spreading discord.
The memorandum, led by district president Shahid Kundi along with legal advisor advocate Aslam Bharti, Zakir Mansuri, and Haji Abdul Gani, strongly condemned Narsinghanand’s offensive statements. They reiterated that such remarks are an affront to the religious sentiments of Muslims and could severely damage communal unity. The group asserted that such behaviour would not be tolerated and demanded swift and decisive action.
The Baran district CCMD has called for immediate arrest of Yati Narsinghanand and registration of a case against him under UAPA or PASA. The memorandum underlines the potential threat his remarks pose to public peace and communal harmony.
Notable figures, including former state secretary of Minority Congress Rais Faiji, former district president Haji Nasir Mirza, councilor Akhlaq Ansari, social worker Sheikh Bahadur, Zakir Hussain Khilji, and Ishrat Pathan, were present during the submission of the memorandum. All voiced their strong condemnation of Narsinghanand’s blasphemy and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and unity in the region.
