New Delhi: The Congress on Tuesday accused the Modi government of a complete failure in foreign policy, saying India has been isolated on the world stage with not one country supporting it during tensions with Pakistan.
At an AICC press conference, Congress media head Pawan Khera claimed the government is “run, operated and inspired by trolls,” and blamed this approach for the current foreign and defense policy crisis.
Khera questioned the government: “Where did the terrorists who killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam vanish?” He said this isn’t the first time the government failed to clarify what happened to terrorists post-attack.
He said BJP leaders display a narrow mindset and continue playing petty politics even while abroad, as part of delegations meant to represent India along with opposition MPs.
Khera alleged the Prime Minister often responds to serious matters with movie dialogues, saying such behavior does not suit the dignity of his office.
On Pakistan-China ties, he said the government remains silent, despite the alliance posing risks to India.
He noted the US President recently grouped India with Pakistan, and now Middle Eastern countries like Kuwait and UAE are doing the same.
Kuwait has lifted its visa ban on Pakistanis and is signing a labour treaty with them, which may impact Indian workers who make up 21% of Kuwait’s workforce. UAE has also given Pakistanis a five-year visa.
Khera said no country backs India’s bid to label Pakistan as a terror state, exposing the weakness of its foreign policy.
He also said, “There’s a clear difference between how BJP MPs behave and how opposition MPs conduct themselves. It’s important for history to remember this.”
When asked about the PM’s statement on Operation Sindoor in Gujarat, Khera called it “low-level politics,” and said, “This is troll language. The PM has proved he is the troll-in-chief.”
On a Consultative Committee remark by the External Affairs Minister that it was wrong to ask if Pakistan was informed of an attack in advance, Khera responded: “If Jaishankar can break traditions, then he should be ready for truths to come out, which will force him to hide his face.”
