Congress Will Keep On Asking Questions to Sarma: Khera

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Pawan Khera said he and his party will not be intimidated by actions from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In a video message, Khera said he was avoiding the police as he had questions to raise and would continue to do so. He described himself as a soldier of the Congress party and of Rahul Gandhi and said he has not learnt to be afraid.

Referring to a police raid at his residence, Khera said around 100 personnel entered his apartment and seized devices. He claimed they took an old phone earlier used by his sister, an old laptop he does not use, and a new iPad he had not started using. He also raised doubts about pen drives seized during the raid and questioned whether they were taken from his home or brought by the police.

Khera said it is the duty of the opposition to ask questions and the responsibility of the government to respond and investigate. He reiterated concerns regarding a company allegedly linked to Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, in Wyoming. He said the company website lists a London address and mentions other locations in Dubai and Dhaka. He added that the London address is also linked to Bhuyan Properties Ltd.

He further referred to earlier claims about foreign passports and residency documents. Khera said only a proper investigation will establish facts. He urged authorities to focus on inquiry rather than targeting those raising public questions.
