Nanded: A consultative meeting was convened at the local office of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Nanded, to discuss pressing issues concerning mosque registration and restrictions on the use of loudspeakers. The gathering brought together scholars, mosque committee members, and representatives of various social and community organizations.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Altaf Hussain, Secretary, National and Community Affairs JIH Nanded, said the present government was attempting to trap Muslims in legal and technical complications and impose unnecessary restrictions on their institutions. He cited the Waqf Amendment Act and the recent measures on mosque and madrasa administration as examples of such interference.
Guest speaker Maulana Faheem Falahi noted that while the Supreme Court has already completed hearings on the Waqf Amendment Act, the government has prematurely issued notifications regarding waqf property registrations, creating widespread anxiety. He advised that until the court delivers its verdict, institutions should prepare required documents but avoid hasty registrations.
Maulana Faheem Falahi clarified that no court has fixed a limit on the number of loudspeakers in mosques. He emphasized that if police issue verbal instructions, written notices should be demanded, as petitions on the matter are already pending before the Bombay High Court.
JIH President of Nanded, Abid Khan Pathan, remarked that such unjust decisions were meant to divert Muslims from their primary responsibility of spreading the message of Islam. The meeting resolved to form a joint committee of scholars, mosque representatives, and social organizations to collectively address these challenges.
