New Delhi : A recent report by Report Bharat has stirred controversy by alleging that Hindu girls from various parts of India are being trafficked to Dubai under the guise of “love jihad.” The claims, made by journalist Ashok Bharti, suggest that these women are being sold and forced into work in hotels and dance halls, reported the BBC.
According to Bharti, who conducted an investigation in Dubai, the report highlights cases where Muslim men allegedly lured Hindu women before selling them into trafficking networks. The report specifically mentions five Punjabi women who were allegedly sold in Dubai in 2021. Additionally, it cites instances of women from Uttarakhand and Delhi, claiming that they are living in dire conditions.
The report also refers to a 2020 case from Hyderabad, in which 12 Indian women were reportedly trafficked to Dubai through deceitful means. They were later rescued by the Consulate General of India, which found that they had been misled by a travel agent.
Despite the sensational claims, the report lacks official verification. No government or law enforcement agencies have confirmed the allegations made in the report. Critics argue that such reports are part of a growing narrative aimed at fueling communal tensions.
