Court Grants Temporary Relief to AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, Stays Arrest Until February 24

New Delhi, Feb 13, 2025: In a major relief for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has put a stay on his arrest until February 24. The court has also directed Khan to cooperate with the ongoing investigation while instructing the police to conduct any interrogation under CCTV surveillance, reported the Hindustan Times.

The development comes after an FIR was registered against Khan on Monday, following allegations that he led an attack on a police team in Jamia Nagar and helped an accused, who had been declared an absconder by the court, to escape. After the FIR, police launched search operations across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, but Khan remained untraceable.

In response to the accusations, Amanatullah Khan wrote a letter to the Delhi Police Commissioner, asserting that he had not fled and was present in his constituency. He claimed that certain police officials were falsely implicating him in a fabricated case. Khan also pointed out that the individual whom the police intended to arrest had already secured bail, and when he presented his legal documents, the police allegedly framed Khan to cover up their mistake.

The temporary relief granted by the court allows Khan to participate in the investigation while shielding him from immediate arrest. The ruling has sparked significant reactions within the AAP camp as investigative agencies continue their probe. The coming days will determine the next course of action in the case.
