Cowardly Attacks Can’t Silence Me: Owaisi

Hyderabad, June 29: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi has made it clear that cowardly attacks on him and his house will not be able to silence him.

The Hyderabad MP, whose residence in Delhi was vandalized by some miscreants on the night of June 27, said that only death can silence him.

Some miscreants threw black ink on his Ashoka Road residence and pasted posters demanding cancellation of his Lok Sabha membership for raising the slogan of ‘Jai Palestine’ after taking oath as MP.

The posters also carried slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘I stand with Israel’ with a picture of Owaisi between two hands symbolising India and Israel.

Owaisi alleged that the Central government is a mute spectator to the attacks. “Police don’t want to arrest the culprits though there are several CCTV cameras in the area. A person involved in the attack has Prime Minister’s photo on his Instagram DP and perhaps this is why the government and police don’t want to take action,” he said.

The AIMIM chief said the police officers were playing down the incident, saying such small incidents happen. “What will they do if something major happens one day,” he asked and mentioned that his residence is located in front of the headquarters of Delhi police while the Election Commission of India’s office is located next to his residence.

Owaisi said his residence was targeted so many times that he lost the count of the same. In one of the incidents, the miscreants beat up his domestic servant Raju. “They opened fire on my vehicle in Uttar Pradesh. They repeatedly threaten to kill me. These cowards do not believe in democracy,” he said.

Some activists of Hindu Raksha Dal on June 28 staged a protest outside Owaisi’s residence in Delhi and raised slogans against him. They slammed him for raising the slogan of ‘Jai Palestine’ in Parliament and demanded cancellation of his membership.

Owaisi asked how these ‘oppressors’ and ‘cowards’ can decide what he should speak in the Parliament. He claimed that he was exposing the Modi government and mentioned that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has released a report, which says minorities are being targeted in India.

Owaisi said since June 4 when election results were declared six Muslims have been lynched in separate incidents in different parts of the country. The houses of Muslims are being demolished and mosques being razed.

The AIMIM president said such incidents were happening because the present government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had made people radical. “The Prime Minister himself calls Muslims infiltrators and says they can be recognised by their clothes,” he said.

Owaisi, who was elected to the Lok Sabha for the fifth consecutive term in recent elections, said those pasting the Israeli flag on his house are supporters of Zionism. “More than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 12 lakh have been made homeless but there is no humanity left in those supporting Israel,” he added.
