CPI(M) Condemns Gaza Genocide, Urges India to Demand Justice

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli onslaught on Gaza, describing it as a genocide, and has called for India to take a firm stand in demanding accountability.
In a scathing statement, the CPI(M) highlighted the staggering human toll: “In April 2025 alone, 2,037 Palestinians were killed in Israeli air and ground attacks. In the last two days, over 200 Palestinians have lost their lives. Since October 7, 2023, a total of 53,384 Palestinians have been killed — 94% of them civilians, including 51% children, 16% women, and 8% elderly.”
The party criticized Israel for blocking humanitarian aid for over two months and then allowing only minimal assistance, leading to “extreme levels of starvation.” It also warned of Israel’s increasing aggression, allegedly emboldened by U.S. support, and expressed concern over Israel’s reported plans to occupy the entire Gaza Strip.
CPI(M) demanded that the Indian government “exert pressure on Israel to end its genocidal war” and “join the global call to prosecute Israeli leaders for war crimes and genocide.”
The party reiterated its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and their rightful demand for a sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
