CPI(M) denounces harassment of Kashmiri people in BJP-ruled states, urges to curb divisive activities

New Delhi: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Friday denounced the harassment of students and traders from Jammu and Kashmir in BJP-ruled states after the Pahalgam attack.
It urged the Union government to control divisive forces trying to destroy peace in the country.
In a statement, CPI(M)’s Polit Bureau said, “At a time when the whole country has unitedly come out against the dastardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, there are reports of threats and harassment of students and traders belonging to Jammu and Kashmir in different states, including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra etc. In Dehradun, due to the threats and an ultimatum issued by a communal outfit, many Kashmiri students have left for their homes.”
It also denounced the vicious campaign on social media targeting Kashmiris and the minority community.
“The whole country has seen how Kashmiris have, with one voice, denounced and protested against the terrorist outfit.”
“These activities are only helping the agenda of the terrorists.”
It demanded that the concerned authorities must take firm action against those indulging in such disruptive activities.
It stressed that there should be no leniency shown to those who try to divide and disrupt the people’s unity that has been forged.
