Panjim: The Council for Social Justice and Peace (CSJP) organised here today a protest gathering in response to recent atrocities against minorities in India, an event that has sparked widespread concern. Among the incidents highlighted was a recent attack on nuns in Chhattisgarh, which resulted in an FIR being filed. The incident has drawn attention to the increasing trend of violence and intimidation targeting minority communities.
Addressing the gathering, Abdul Wahab, a Social Activist, expressed gratitude to the large number of protesters who came forward in solidarity with minorities and in defence of the Constitution of India. He outlined a pattern of systematic attacks on minorities since 2014, citing examples such as Violence linked to religious conversions, Cow vigilantism, Targeting of religious practices, Fabricated FIRs against minorities, activists, and journalists, Attacks on religious institutions, including mosques, madrasas, churches, and schools.
Abdul Wahab also referred to the recent statement by the Chief Minister during the assembly session regarding the “FIR on Nuns,” in which the CM assured that such incidents would not occur in Goa. While acknowledging the assurance, he urged the Chief Minister to translate words into concrete action. He further called upon law enforcement agencies to uphold the law without bias.
At last Abdul Wahab appealed to the gathering to unite in preserving Goa’s secular fabric and to work collectively towards safeguarding the Constitutional values of India.
