Meerut: Darul Uloom Deoband, a globally renowned center for Islamic education, has enforced a ban on smartphone usage for students preparing for its entrance exam. The directive, issued last month by the principal hostel administration, applies to students residing on campus until their examinations are completed.
The administration believes that unrestricted smartphone access distracts students from their studies. Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora, a Deobandi scholar, emphasized that the decision aims to ensure students remain dedicated to their education without interruptions. Senior ulema acknowledged the advantages of technology but stressed the importance of responsible usage, pointing out that social media and other distractions negatively impact academic performance.
A senior official of the institution stated that the move seeks to enhance students’ focus and ensure effective utilization of their time during the crucial exam preparation period.
