Declaring Maulana Azad’s Birth Anniversary as National Education Day is a Commendable Step by the Government of India: Adv. Yaseen Momin

New Delhi: On the occasion of National Education Day, observed in memory of India’s first Education Minister and eminent national leader Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the Hakim Ajmal Khan Forum for Peace and Communal Harmony organised a symposium at the office of All India Unani Tibbi Congress, Daryaganj.

The programme was presided over by Advocate Yaseen Momin, a prominent community leader from Bhiwandi, who said that it is a welcome initiative that November 11 is celebrated every year in India as National Education Day. He added that observing Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary as National Education Day is the best possible tribute to him. It is gratifying, he noted, that since 2008, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has officially declared this day as National Education Day, which is indeed a commendable step.

Yaseen Momin further stated that Maulana Azad had strongly opposed the partition of India throughout his life. He was a great thinker and shining beacon of knowledge and wisdom. The younger generation, he emphasised, should be made aware of Maulana Azad’s personality and his contributions to the nation, as today’s youth are increasingly suffering from an inferiority complex. Therefore, it is essential that they learn about the sacrifices made by their forefathers in the freedom struggle.

Prominent leader Khalid Khan from Bhopal said that education is the key to success, and that Maulana Azad had given this positive message to the youth, which must be embraced.

Maulana Aleemuddin Asadi remarked that advancing Maulana Azad’s educational vision is the need of the hour. He also mentioned that the institutions established in Maulana’s name are progressing well, particularly highlighting the exemplary work of Maulana Abdul Hameed Rahmani’s mission – the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Awakening Centre.

Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan said that Maulana Azad’s educational policy was fully aligned with India’s secular character and that he was a staunch advocate of national unity. In today’s times, he stressed, it is extremely important to popularise Maulana’s ideas. Like other national leaders, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad also deserves recognition at the governmental level.

Other speakers, including Advocate Shah Jabeen Qazi, Israr Ahmad Ujjaini, Hakim Mohammad Murtaza Dehlvi, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, and Dr. Ghiyasuddin Siddiqui, also shared their views. Mohammad Imran Kannauji extended a vote of thanks.
