Deep Understanding of Islam in New Generation Essential: Dr. Belgami

Bengaluru, July 11: The children studying in contemporary schools essentially need theology teachings for their moral and spiritual upbringing, said Syed Tanveer Ahmed, National Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. Speaking in an orientation programme of the organisers of part-time Deeni Makatib here recently, he said the community should fill the void in the present education system.

Tanveer Ahmed said the Jamaat has designed a comprehensive syllabus spread over four years for easy learning for children. The books in this multi-lingual Deeniyat course are like any other textbooks of regular education. Each book carries instructions to the tutor to make course learners friendly and each chapter is followed by exercises, he added.

Khaleeq Ahmed, coordinator of the part-time Makatib Committee, Delhi explained the intrinsic of the syllabus. Books are provided with QR code which links to visuals, audio and video files as tools for effective learning, he said.

Highlighting the role being played by around 200 part-time Makatib across Karnataka, the state president of the Jamaat Dr. Belgami Mohammed Saad emphasized over developing deep understanding of religion in the new generation, rather than token Deeni Taleem. Then only a child will be a conscious adherent of the religion, he said.

Earlier, Moulana Obaidulla Omri, state convenor of the part-time Makatib, presented a brief discourse on the Quran. Moulana Hamid Omri, state secretary of the Jamaat, advised the organisers in his concluding remarks about the follow-up programme and assured cooperation and support from the state office for furtherance of the cause.

Representatives from Shivmoga, Hasan, Mandya, Mysore, Kolar, Chickbalapur apart from Bengaluru Metro attended the one-day orientation programme held for southern Karnataka.
