NCPUL has not been reorganized for the last two years, leading to a stagnation in the resolution of all issues related to Urdu and Urdu education.
New Delhi, October 12: World Urdu Day Celebration Committee Convenor Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan has demanded that the Central and State Governments increase the number of Urdu teachers, make arrangements to teach Urdu till class 12 and appoint Urdu teachers in Kendriya Vidyalayas.
The “World Urdu Day” – Celebration Committee met in Daryaganj here under the chairmanship of Dr. Ubaidullah Baig, President of Urdu Development Organization Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. A unanimous resolution was passed in the meeting demanding the reorganization of the National Center for the Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) by the Government of India. NCPUL has not been reorganized for the last two years, leading to a stagnation in the resolution of all issues related to Urdu and Urdu education.
Delhi-based Urdu Development Organisation announced that the “World Urdu Day” would be celebrated on November 9 under the joint aegis of the Urdu Department of Madras University and Anjuman Abna-e-Qadeem. On this day, scholars from across the country will suggest ways to increase the popularity of Urdu and emphasize on preserving the Ganga-Jamuni culture of the country. Dr. Syed Ahmed Khan said the impact of celebrating Urdu Day on November 9, the birthday of world famous philosopher Allama Iqbal, can be seen all over the world.
The Committee thanked Madras University Urdu Department Chairman Professor Amanullah for providing support for the World Urdu Day celebrations. Senior journalist Masoom Moradabadi said that he is confident that under the leadership of Dr Ubaidullah Baig, the development and promotion of Urdu will receive a boost in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka also.
