Delhi Court Summons YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in Defamation Case

24 Jul. 24: A Delhi court has issued a summons to YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in response to a defamation lawsuit filed by BJP leader Suresh Karamshi Nakhua. Nakhua, an official spokesperson for BJP Mumbai, is seeking Rs 20 lakh in damages from Rathee, alleging that he was defamed by being labeled as part of “violent and abusive trolls” in a video posted on YouTube, reported The Hindu.

District Judge Gunjan Gupta of the Saket Court has notified Rathee, as well as social media platform X and Google, and scheduled the next hearing for August 6. Nakhua claims that the accusations made by Rathee have severely damaged his personal and professional reputation.

In his video, Rathee alleged that the Prime Minister had hosted individuals, including Nakhua, who were involved in violent and abusive online behavior. The lawsuit contends that these statements have led to significant defamation and irreparable loss for Nakhua.

The case continues to unfold as both parties prepare for the upcoming court session.
