Delhi High Court Allows Pro-Palestine Art Show, Barring Police Interference

The Delhi High Court has allowed an anti-war art exhibition supporting Palestine, scheduled for Sunday in Model Town, North Delhi, without police interference.
The decision came after Keshwa Anand from the Progressive Artists’ League moved court, fearing police disruption.
Anand said Delhi Police visited his home on May 20, pressuring him to cancel the event. He also mentioned that a May 18 screening on the Israel-Palestine conflict at the same venue was disrupted.
The exhibition, to be held at Anand’s residence, will display anti-war classics like Guernica and Massacred in Korea by Pablo Picasso, and The Third of May 1808 by Francisco Goya.
Works by Progressive Artists’ League members, highlighting Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, will also be featured.
Justice Sachin Datta asked if the event would be private or public. Anand’s lawyer, Manik Gupta, said only 20 people were expected.
Delhi Police told the court they had no plans to interfere and were only concerned about law and order.
Taking this assurance, the court ruled police must not interfere unless law and order issues arise.
The exhibition highlights art’s power as protest and solidarity amid the Gaza conflict. For the League, it is a legal victory for cultural and civic expression.
