New Delhi: A viral video showing Muslim youth jumping AFC gates at a Delhi Metro station has sparked debate online. Right-wing users condemned the act, while others criticized it without supporting the communal angle. Some shared videos of Kanwar Yatra disorder, questioning selective outrage.
Reports say the incident happened on February 13 at Jama Masjid Metro Station during Shab-e-Barat. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has now clarified the situation.
DMRC stated that a sudden crowd surge at the AFC gates led some passengers to jump over them. It confirmed the event occurred at Jama Masjid Metro Station on the Violet Line. Due to an unexpected rush, some individuals jumped to exit quickly.
DMRC assured that security staff managed the situation, and control was never lost. It described the act as a spontaneous reaction to overcrowding.
