District Magistrate Ajay Kumar Gupta Inaugurates Saiyid Hamid Block at The Scholar School, Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 13: Shri Ajay Kumar Gupta, IAS, the District Magistrate of South East Delhi, officially inaugurated Monday evening the newly constructed Saiyid Hamid Block of The Scholar School here. The three-storey block is a tribute to the late Saiyid Hamid, a distinguished educationist, social reformer, and the founding Chairman of the Human Welfare Foundation.

The Saiyid Hamid Block houses a multipurpose hall and classrooms across two floors, reflecting the school’s commitment to providing a superior educational environment for its students. Saiyid Hamid, who previously served as the Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), was a pivotal figure in Indian education and social reform. His role as a member of the Sachar Committee, which examined the social, economic, and educational status of the Muslim community in India, was instrumental in shaping policies aimed at empowering marginalized groups.

As the founding Chairman of the Human Welfare Foundation, Saiyid Hamid was a driving force behind the Vision 2026 projects, which seek to uplift less privileged communities through education and social empowerment. The Foundation’s work, including the establishment of educational campuses across North India, has significantly impacted underprivileged communities, with the aim of transforming these institutions into centers of excellence.

The Scholar School, established in 2010, currently educates over 800 students from kindergarten through 8th grade, supported by 40 trained teachers. The school is recognized for its students’ success in inter-school competitions and competitive exams, which enhance their analytical and critical thinking skills. Additionally, the school boasts a well-stocked library, smart classrooms, and a computer lab with interactive digital facilities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including T Arif Ali, Chairman of Vision 2026; Siraj Hussain, IAS (Retd.) and Chairman of the Human Welfare Foundation; M Sajid Abdulla, General Secretary of the Human Welfare Foundation; Er. Mohammed Salim, Trustee of the Human Welfare Trust; Principal Mahpara Jan; and Mohammed Arif, Senior Manager of the Human Welfare Foundation.

As the chief guest, Sh. Ajay Kumar Gupta lauded the school’s achievements and growth, praising the management and teachers for their dedication to student development. He encouraged the school to foster innovative thinking among students, emphasizing their role as the future of India. Gupta also pledged his support to the school in its ongoing endeavors.

In his speech, Mr. Siraj Hussain expressed satisfaction with the progress of Vision 2026 and the leadership at The Scholar School. Mr. T Arif Ali reiterated the school’s mission to educate and nurture successful individuals, while M Sajid Abdulla extended a warm welcome to the guests.
