Mangaluru | Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi, a prominent academician and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management (SCEM), Mangaluru, has been appointed as a member of the 9th Academic Senate of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, reported the Varta Bharati.
The appointment was formally announced through a notification issued by the Karnataka Governor’s Secretariat (Notification No. GS 06 TUM 2025), dated June 25, 2025. The official announcement was made by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of VTU.
The Academic Senate serves as the highest academic authority within the university, responsible for framing and implementing key academic policies and strategies. Dr. Basthikodi’s induction into the Senate is seen as a well-deserved recognition of his significant contributions to technical education and research in the field of computer science.
