Dr. Raisuddin Elected National President of Welfare Party of India

Nagpur, June 29: In a significant development, Dr. Raisuddin, National Vice President of the Welfare Party of India (WPI), has been unanimously elected National President of the party. His election took place during the party’s Federal General Council (FGC) meeting held here Saturday. Succeeding Dr. SQR Ilyas, Dr. Raisuddin will serve as president for the 2024-28 term.

Hailing from West Bengal, Dr. Raisuddin is the third president of the party that was launched in 2011 with Shaikh Mujtaba Farooq as the founder president.

A very popular leader and prolific orator in West Bengal, Dr. Raisuddin, a homeopathy doctor by profession, has a distinguished background in both medicine and politics. He is one of the founding members of WPI and has served as the party’s West Bengal state president. His notable political achievements include contesting Lok Sabha by-poll from Jangipur constituency in West Bengal in October 2012. The seat was vacant after Pranab Mukherjee became President of India. Pranab’s son Abhijit Mukherjee won the by-poll while Dr Raisuddin of WPI had secured 41,620 votes. Dr Raisuddin contested the Jangipur seat with a declared zero criminal background.

As the National Vice President, he played a crucial role in bringing young members into the party.

The Welfare Party of India aims to promote alternative politics, emphasizing high standards of morality and ethical values. The party is committed to being free from crimes, corruption, selfishness, and all kinds of narrow-minded prejudices. Dr. Raisuddin’s leadership is expected to reinforce these values and guide the party towards a more inclusive and just political landscape.
