On Monday, Dr. Zaidi officially assumed office, infusing new energy not only into the institute but also into the wider Unani medical community.
Dr. Zaidi’s academic and administrative journey has been inspirational. He laid the foundation of his education at the prestigious Minto Circle of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Unani Medicine from Zulekhabai Valy Mohammed Unani Medical College (Azam Campus) in Pune, Maharashtra.
Through intellect, discipline, and tireless dedication, he began his career as a Research Assistant at CCRUM, New Delhi, and subsequently rose through the ranks as Assistant Research Officer, Research Officer, and ultimately Deputy Director.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Zaidi served as Deputy Director at the Regional Research Institute in Bhadrak, Odisha, where he not only expanded the institute’s research activities but also played an exemplary role in administrative operations.
Dr. Zaidi hails from the historically and culturally rich region of Naugawan Sadat in Amroha district, Uttar Pradesh. He comes from a respected and distinguished family known for its deep-rooted legacy in education, service, and social upliftment. Experts believe that his appointment is a decisive step towards the holistic development of the institute — “from foundation to pinnacle.” Under his leadership, not only will the institute’s research capabilities reach new heights, but serious efforts will also be made to elevate Unani medicine on the global stage.
Since Dr. Zaidi is also an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University, it is expected that his leadership will forge a strong and dedicated bridge for research and academic collaboration between AMU and the Unani Research Institute. This alliance is anticipated to accelerate discoveries in Unani medicine, promote high-quality research, and further efforts to integrate traditional medicine with modern science.
Officials, researchers, and Unani medicine experts associated with the institute, especially Senior Research Officer Dr. Misbahuddin Azhar, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Zaidi and expressed full confidence in his experience and leadership abilities. It is believed that his appointment will set new benchmarks in research, innovation, and public service within the institute.
