New Delhi: Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, National President of the Urdu Development Organisation (UDO), has expressed concern over the alleged indifference of certain state governments towards the Urdu language.
He stated that, according to information obtained through the Right to Information (RTI), the Rajasthan Urdu Academy does not have a single staff member at present, while the Urdu Academies in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar have remained dissolved for several years. Apart from the lack of staff, these academies have effectively been defunct for a long time.
Dr. Khan said that due to the dissolution of these academies, all work related to the development of the Urdu language has come to a complete standstill. No programmes are being conducted for the promotion and upliftment of Urdu, nor are there any active schemes in place.
He urged all the concerned state governments to reconstitute the Urdu Academies, calling for an end to what he described as discriminatory and step-motherly treatment towards the Urdu language. He emphasised that, like other languages, Urdu too should receive due attention and support for its development and advancement.
