Sambhal: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) jointly conducted large-scale raids at the residences and business premises of prominent meat traders, Haji Imran and Haji Khan, known locally as the Haji Brothers. The operation took place across multiple locations in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, amid tight police security.
According to officials, the raids are part of an investigation into alleged financial irregularities, money laundering, and tax evasion linked to the brothers’ meat export company, Irfan Indian Frozen Foods. The business reportedly has an annual turnover of around ₹1,000 crore.
Sources said more than 70 vehicles carrying ED and CBI officers arrived in the city early in the morning to conduct the coordinated search. Several properties connected to the Haji Brothers were inspected simultaneously, and financial records were seized for examination.
Police presence was increased around the search sites to prevent any disruption or public unrest. Local residents gathered outside the properties as the operation continued through the day.
The raids are part of a broader national effort to trace illegal financial networks and unaccounted foreign exchange in the meat export sector. Officials said further action will depend on the findings from the seized documents and digital evidence.
