Eid-ul-Fitr 2025: Saudi Arabia Confirms Moon Sighting, India Awaits Decision

Riyadh/New Delhi: Saudi Arabia has officially announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025, following the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday evening. The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia confirmed the sighting, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal, reported the Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, in India, the crescent moon sighting is expected on Sunday, March 30. If the moon is visible, Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Monday, March 31, 2025. However, if it remains unseen, the festival will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Several other countries, including Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Malaysia, have declared that Eid-ul-Fitr will fall on March 31, following the non-sighting of the moon on Saturday. These nations follow local moon sighting committees to determine the Islamic calendar dates.
Muslims worldwide are preparing for Eid celebrations, which include prayers, feasts, and gatherings with family and friends. The festival marks a time of gratitude, generosity, and spiritual renewal after a month of fasting.
