On the second day of the Congress meeting in Ahmedabad, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the Modi-led central government. In his speech, he touched upon the idea of democracy, the EVM controversy, and Rahul Gandhi being silenced in Parliament. He also addressed party leaders, advising those unwilling to work for the party to step aside and rest.
Kharge termed Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) as a complete fraud. He said that developed nations across the globe have moved away from EVMs and returned to ballot papers. “Nowhere else in the world are EVMs used, except in India. This is a scam,” he asserted.
Targeting the BJP, Kharge said they have devised methods that benefit only themselves. He warned that in the times to come, the youth will rise and demand an end to the use of EVMs. He also raised concerns over the situation in Maharashtra and questioned the lack of governmental response to Rahul Gandhi’s press conferences and interventions in Parliament.
Kharge strongly raised the issue of American tariffs as well, accusing the government of neglecting critical matters and avoiding accountability during elections.
