Excavation for Police Outpost Opposite Sambhal Shahi Jama Masjid Underway

Heavy police deployment marked the commencement of excavation work for a new police outpost opposite the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh. The construction aims to enhance security in the area following recent tensions, reports The Hindustan Times.

“Measurements for the new outpost have been completed, and construction will begin soon,” stated Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shirish Chandra. He explained that the new facility would ensure round-the-clock police presence to maintain law and order in the region.

During the excavation, an accident occurred when a small municipal bulldozer went out of control while being loaded onto a tractor, ramming into a house on the road behind the mosque. The house sustained damage, but no injuries were reported.

This development comes in the aftermath of violent clashes on November 24, when five Muslim youths were killed during protests against a survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid. Residents alleged police firing, though law enforcement denied the claims. The violence kept Sambhal on edge for several days.

The new police outpost is seen as a measure to prevent such incidents and strengthen security in the area. Authorities have also conducted a survey to facilitate the construction, which is expected to progress swiftly.

The situation in Sambhal continues to draw attention as local authorities work to restore normalcy and address security concerns following the unrest.
