Extend Deadline for Waqf Registration on UMEED Portal, Demands JIH Maharashtra President

Mumbai: The government has failed to digitise Waqf records from 2009 to 2025, a span of 16 years. The data uploaded so far on the portal is incomplete, full of errors, and without geo-tagging. In other words, despite all its resources, the government itself has been unable to upload the records properly, yet it is now asking the public to complete this task within just a few months. Therefore, the government should extend the deadline for Waqf registration. These remarks were made by Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi, President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maharashtra, in a press statement.

Maulana said that the deadline for Waqf registration on the UMEED portal, as displayed on the website, is 6 December, while a significant portion of the registration work is still pending. According to Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi, the main reason for the incomplete registration is the slow functioning of the portal. For several days, the portal has been extremely slow, causing difficulties in registering Waqf properties and preventing the completion of the process.

Maulana Ilyas Khan Falahi stated that in Maharashtra, 80% of Waqf properties have been registered, while 20% are still pending. However, verification has been completed for only 20%, and the remaining 80% are yet to be verified. Therefore, we appeal to the Government of India to extend the deadline so that 100% of Waqf properties can be uploaded to the UMEED portal. Along with requesting an extension of the deadline, the JIH Maharashtra President has also demanded that the government fix the technical issues in the portal so that the process can be completed as soon as possible.
