Akola, July 30: The Maharashtra Shetkari Vikas Manch organized a state-level farmers’ camp at Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth here. Farmers from various parts of the state participated in this event, which aimed to address various agricultural issues and discuss the integration of technology and innovation in the farming sector.
The program, starting at 10:30 AM, featured guidance from experts in various agricultural fields. Key speakers included Prabhakar Chaudhary from the District Coordination Mitkan Center in Akola, Prashant Gawande, President of Shetkari Jagar Manch, and Laxmikant Kotkar, District President of the Farmers’ Association, who not only provided insights but also answered farmers’ queries.
Prashant Gawande criticized government policies, stating that they are designed to benefit capitalists rather than farmers. He highlighted issues like loan waivers and MSP, pointing out the lack of government seriousness towards farmers. Gawande urged farmers to become more aware and proactive, as many are driven to the extreme step of suicide due to inadequate profits compared to their investment.
Sheikh Mujeeb, a patron of Maharashtra Shetkari Vikas Manch, appealed to farmers to unite for solutions. He emphasized that collective efforts could ensure their economic, social, and political development, acknowledging that many farmer organizations have previously betrayed their trust.
Zamir Qadri, another patron of Maharashtra Shetkari Vikas Manch, encouraged farmers to adopt new technologies for higher crop yields. He stressed the need to develop other sectors related to agriculture as well. Qadri assured farmers that worrying about losses is unnecessary and that they should move forward with courage. He emphasized that suicide is not a solution, and proper use of technology, along with hard work, can lead to a better future.
The workshop also included a tour of Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, where farmers learned about various machines and technologies used in agriculture. The participants appreciated the initiative by Maharashtra Shetkari Vikas Manch.
Regional President Hussain Khan, along with patrons Abdul Mujeeb and Zamir Qadri, congratulated all the participating farmers and dignitaries for making the program a success.
