Akola: To address farmers’ concerns, the Shetkari Vikas Manch (Farmer Development Forum) Maharashtra has organized a ‘Farmers’ Welfare Convention’ on Sunday, February 16, at Pramilatai Oak Auditorium in Akola.
The convention will discuss key farmer-centric demands, including: Immediate financial aid of ₹10,000 per acre for soybean, cotton, and pigeon pea producers for the 2024-25 season, Timely crop insurance and disaster relief for farmers, Complete waiver of farmers’ loans, Daytime electricity supply for agriculture,
90% subsidized fencing to protect crops from wild animals, Construction of farm access roads on a priority basis, Long-term financial assistance for farmers’ children’s education and daughters’ marriages and Implementation of an MSP Guarantee Law to ensure fair crop prices. The event will be presided over by Mohammed Salim Engineer, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, from Delhi.
Prominent attendees include Dr. Sunil from Samyukt Kisan Morcha, Ravikant Tupkar of the Krantikari Shetkari Sanghatana, Prakash Pohare, founder of Kisan Brigade, Ilyas Khan Falahi, guide of the Farmer Development Forum, Laxmikant Kotkar from the Farmer Organization, Zameer Qadri and Abdul Mujeeb from Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Prashant Gawande, social activist Sushilatai, farmer leader Gajanan Amadabadkar, and Hussein Khan, President of the Shetkari Vikas Manch.
