Farooq Abdullah Accuses PM Modi of Spreading Fear Among Hindus to Retain Power

Srinagar, May 4 2024:
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference (NC) President, Farooq Abdullah, has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is instilling fear among Hindus to maintain his grip on power. Speaking at an election rally in the Khaniyar area of Srinagar in support of NC candidate Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Abdullah urged people to reject divisive politics.

Abdullah criticized Modi for spreading misinformation, alleging that the Prime Minister has been telling Hindus that their cultural symbols, such as mangalsutras, would be forcibly taken away and sold to fund Muslims. He also accused Modi of threatening Hindus with taxation on savings and property confiscation, claiming that one of their houses would be redistributed to Muslims if a certain political bloc comes to power.

Highlighting the neglect of common issues by the current government, Abdullah pointed to the soaring prices of essential commodities like cooking gas, diesel, edible oil, and vegetables during Modi’s tenure. He also criticized the appointment of senior officers in J&K from outside the region, emphasizing the need for voters to reject the decisions made on August 5, 2019.

In his address, Abdullah urged voters to ensure the proper functioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) while casting their ballots. His remarks underscored the importance of rejecting fear-mongering tactics and divisive politics in the democratic process.
