Farooq Abdullah’s Operation Sindoor Remark Triggers Political Backlash

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has triggered debate with remarks linking the recent terror attacks in Delhi to the possibility of an operation similar to Operation Sindoor. His comments came after a car bomb blast in Delhi and the arrest of two doctors in Faridabad for alleged terror links.

Abdullah questioned the route chosen for the Delhi attack and called for a detailed investigation. He said authorities need to study the case with care. He warned of the risk of steps similar to Operation Sindoor if tensions rise. He stated that Operation Sindoor in the past led to the death of 18 people and did not resolve the problem.

He stressed the importance of dialogue with Pakistan. He quoted former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s view that neighbors remain neighbors. He said improved engagement with Pakistan is the only durable path to peace in the region.

His remarks drew sharp reactions online. Users questioned his reference to Pakistan and criticised the suggestion that another operation might take place. Political groups also responded with concern about the timing and tone of his comments.

Abdullah also spoke about the recent explosion at a police station in Srinagar. He said the blast resulted from mishandling of explosives by those who lacked the required technical expertise. The incident killed nine people and damaged several houses in the area.

His statements have opened a fresh political debate in a region already facing tension after recent attacks and security incidents.
