Federation of Maharashtra Muslims Condemns Bulldozing of Muslim Homes, Calls for Legal Accountability

Mumbai, Aug 24: The Federation of Maharashtra Muslims (FMM) has raised concerns over the increasing trend of lawlessness in BJP-ruled states, particularly highlighting the systematic targeting of Muslims through unlawful actions such as bulldozing their homes. This statement comes in response to recent incidents in Madhya Pradesh, where Muslim youth were paraded by the police, and a Muslim man’s house was demolished without due legal process.

FMM officials expressed alarm over the emerging culture in these states, where Muslims are being punished extrajudicially. They condemned the demolitions as a deliberate effort by these governments to intimidate the Muslim community and suppress their right to protest and express their grievances.

The Federation criticized the lack of response from opposition parties, particularly the Congress, and questioned the effectiveness of Rahul Gandhi’s campaign of love and unity for Muslims. They called on opposition leaders to go beyond mere statements and interviews, urging them to take to the streets in opposition to such illegal actions. FMM argued that it is essential for the opposition to demonstrate their presence and resist these fascist government actions, reinforcing the rule of law and the judiciary’s role in safeguarding the rights of the marginalized.

FMM also appealed to the judiciary to take suo motu action against such extrajudicial acts. They highlighted that if the judiciary can intervene in cases involving a single doctor, it should also step forward to address the grievances of oppressed communities.

The joint press release was issued by several prominent leaders, including Maulana Umrain Mahfuz Rahmani, Secretary of the Muslim Personal Law Board; Maulana Hafiz Ilyas Khan Falahi, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maharashtra; Maulana Mahmood Ahmed Daryabadi, General Secretary of the Ulama Council; Abu Asim Azmi, MLA and President of Samajwadi Party Maharashtra; Maulana Hafiz Syed Athar, President of Ulama Association Mumbai, Maharashtra; Maulana Haleemullah Qasmi, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maharashtra; Farid Shaikh, President of Peace Committee Mumbai; Abdul Hafeez Patrakar, Jalna; Maulana Zaheer Abbas Rizvi, Vice President of Shia Personal Law Board; Dr. Saeed Ahmed Faizi, General Secretary of Jamiat Ahle Hadith Maharashtra; Maulana Mufti Huzayfa Qasmi, Organizer of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind Maharashtra; Maulana Agha Ruh Zafar, Imam of Khoja Jamaat Mumbai; Maulana Anees Ashrafi of Raza Foundation Mumbai; Maulana Nizamuddin Fakhruddin, Member of Muslim Personal Law Board Pune; Humayun Shaikh, Organizer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Mumbai; and Sheikh Abdul Mujeeb, Coordinator of the Federation of Maharashtra Muslims.
