FIR Filed Against Over 12,000, Including Jharkhand BJP Chief, Following Violent Clashes During BJYM Rally

26 August 2024: Authorities have lodged an FIR against 12,051 individuals, including the Jharkhand BJP Chief Babulal Marandi, after violent clashes erupted between Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) protesters and police during a rally in Ranchi on August 25, as per a report by the ANI.

The rally, organized by the BJYM, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), turned violent as participants clashed with law enforcement officials. The confrontation led to injuries on both sides and significant disruption in the area.

The police have charged the individuals under various sections, including rioting and assault on public servants. Among those named in the FIR are key BJP leaders, including state president Babulal Marandi, who has been accused of inciting the violence.

The BJP has condemned the police action, claiming that the rally was peaceful until the police intervened. The party has announced plans to challenge the FIR and defend its leaders and workers in court.

The situation remains tense, with political leaders on both sides exchanging accusations and the possibility of further protests looming.
