New Delhi, Feb. 1: The conspiracy to spoil the atmosphere by vandalizing graves in Delhi’s Mohan Garden cemetery has been brought to the notice of higher authorities after registering a complaint in the Mohan Garden police station against the miscreants.

Advocate Raees Ahmed, in a statement, said, “Mischievous elements once again attempted to spoil the atmosphere of communal harmony by damaging the graves in the Mohan Garden (Vipin Garden) graveyard of South-West Delhi.”

Vipin Garden cemetery, Khasra numbers 112, 113, 125 and 136, is located under Mohan Garden police station area.

“After the allotment of plots started by then Delhi Government to the Muslim community for graveyard, the burying of dead bodies continued from 2002 till 2017 without any interruption. Thousands of graves of residents of Vipan Garden, Mohan Garden, Kakraula, Nawada, Uttam Nagar and other nearby Muslim areas exist in this cemetery. From time to time some mischievous elements keep trying to harm them with the connivance of land mafia,” he added.

He further said Muslim Cultural Society Uttam Nagar, which takes care of this graveyard, has already complained about these activities to various departments and leaders. In 2020, a similar act was committed by anti-social elements, about which an FIR (vide No. 0097/2020) was registered at Mohan Garden police station. Even at that time, the Cultural Society tried to maintain the graveyard and protect the graves from the miscreants. But the police didn’t register the complaint despite their presence and verbal request. Due to the Corona lockdown, the organization could not contact the police again. The case is continuing in the court.

Advocate Raees Ahmed said that even today, as usual, some anti-social mischievous elements are trying to spoil the atmosphere of communal harmony by destroying the graves and causing damage to old graves.

“The information was immediately shared with Mohammad Haroon, president of Cultural Society, a written complaint was recorded with the police control room and an FIR was registered in the police station so that action may be taken against these anti-social elements soon and peace and harmony can be maintained in the society,” he informed.
