New Delhi, March 26: In a disturbing incident in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, four individuals were apprehended for forcefully applying colors on a Muslim family during the Holi festivities. The incident, captured in a viral video, depicted a veiled girl and an elderly woman riding a motorcycle behind a young man. Despite their objections, a group of young men halted them on the road and proceeded to apply wet colors forcibly. The incident reportedly took place on Saturday.
The video, which circulated widely on social media platforms, showcased the distressing scene where the girl and the elderly woman were targeted with wet colors against their will. Furthermore, one of the assailants was seen applying colors to the elderly woman, exacerbating the humiliation.
Bijnor police swiftly responded to the outcry, registering a case and apprehending the four individuals involved, three of whom were identified as minors. Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadon affirmed the police’s proactive stance, acknowledging the viral nature of the video and emphasizing the need for swift action.
Additionally, authorities have directed the Circle Officer of Dhampur to engage with the affected family, collect formal complaints, and initiate legal proceedings. The family, identified as residents of Jamalpur village under the jurisdiction of Dhampur police station, has been assured of justice as a case has been officially registered in connection with the incident.
