Four-day SciFiesta Begins at Women’s College, AMU

Aligarh: The Science Society of Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), inaugurated SciFiesta-25 here yesterday. This four-day science festival is designed to encourage scientific exploration and curiosity among students. The event opened with an inaugural lecture titled “Recent Advancements and Opportunities in AI and Technology”.

Prof. Aasim Zafar, Department of Computer Sciences, AMU, delivered the keynote address. He discussed recent innovations in science, focusing on the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and its growing impact. He spoke about how these advancements present both challenges and opportunities, and urged students to embrace innovation and develop future-ready skills.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Vibha Sharma, Member in-charge. Public Relations Office, AMU spoke of the relevance of fundamental scientific concepts in today’s technological landscape.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Saad Hameed, Training and Placement Office, AMU, shared personal insights on career planning and the importance of self-motivation and passion. He encouraged students to approach the future with clarity and commitment, and appreciated the efforts of the Science Society in organizing the event.

Prot. Masud Anwar Alavi, Principal of Women’s College welcomed the dignitaries and attendees. In his remarks, he highlighted the indispensable role of science in everyday life and its potential to shape the future.

The event began with introductory remarks by Ms. Iram Fatima, Vice President, Science Society. It was followed by the welcome address delivered by Ms. Mariam Hashmi, President, Science Society, who spoke about its vision to promote research and collaborative scientific spirit among students.

The guests were felicitated with mementos as a token of appreciation. Ms. Bushra Rasheed, Secretary of the Science Society proposed a vote of thanks.

The festival will feature a series of interactive events and competitions aimed at enhancing critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving abilities among students.
