Patna, Jan 16: Three Muslim men – Mohammad Mujahid Rayeen (35), Mohmmad Anzar (37) and Mohammad Arman (30) – lost their life in a mob lynching case at Tetariya More under Nabinagar police station of Aurangabad district on Monday. Two others Wakeel Ansari and Ajit Sharma who were with the three got injured in the mob attack.

While Mohammad Mujahid and Mohammad Anzar died on the spot, Mohammad Arman succumbed to his injuries in Sadar Hospital, Aurangabad.

The deceased and the injured belonged to Bhai Bigha of Haider Nagar village in Jharkhand’s Palamu district. They were traveling from their village to Dehri in a car.

According to Aurangabad SP Swapna Gautam Meshram, there was a scuffle for parking between the Palamu residents and a shopkeeper. There was a heated exchange of words which turned violent and a bystander was shot dead by a bullet fired from a pistol. The bystander was identified as 65-year-old Ramsharan Chauhan.

There are two versions of bullet firing. One report says the bullet was fired from the car the Palamu residents were traveling in. While the injured car owner says the bullet was fired from somewhere else but the villagers thought that it was they who fired the bullet.

While it’s not clear if the mob killed the three Muslim men due to their religion but many social media users claimed that they were killed because they were Muslims as Ajit Sharma was let go by the mob.
