Freedom Express launches Delhi Edition, pledges honest journalism

New Delhi: Freedom Express, an English daily earlier published from Hyderabad, launched its Delhi edition on Monday at the Constitution Club of India. The paper promises to uphold free speech, transparency, and credible journalism at a time when media independence is under scrutiny.
The launch drew diplomats, parliamentarians, academics, and civil society leaders. The mood was both celebratory and reflective. Speakers stressed the role of an independent press in protecting democracy, secularism, and the idea of India. More than a dozen MPs and diplomats attended the event.
The Editor of Freedom Express welcomed the gathering. He reaffirmed the commitment to “fearless, factual, and fair journalism.” He said the newspaper would cover politics and governance, but also youth, innovation, education, and marginalized voices ignored by mainstream media.
Foreign diplomats praised the initiative. A senior EU envoy said, “a free and plural press is the cornerstone of any thriving democracy,” and lauded India’s media diversity. A South Asian ambassador added that a new English publication would promote dialogue across borders and communities.
Parliamentarians from different parties also shared views. Many MPs said a newspaper of integrity strengthens parliamentary democracy by keeping institutions accountable. Another MP urged media to fight disinformation and uphold constitutional values, calling Freedom Express a timely intervention.
The Delhi edition will cover regional developments in depth along with national and international stories. With centres in both Delhi and Hyderabad, the paper aims to bridge the North-South media divide and provide a balanced, inclusive voice.
Civil society leaders expressed hope that the paper would avoid partisan agendas. They said readers now demand “slow, thoughtful journalism” instead of sensationalism. They urged Freedom Express to embody credibility and responsibility.
The evening ended with the unveiling of the first issue. It featured reports on democracy, global affairs, and cultural diversity. The editorial note reaffirmed the mission to serve as a platform for truth, dialogue, and dignity in public life.
With the Delhi launch, Freedom Express enters a competitive but vital field. It pledged to combine strong reporting with ethical responsibility. Its twin presence in Delhi and Hyderabad is seen as both strategic and symbolic, connecting readers across regions.
The initiative was widely lauded. Guests said, “In times when freedom of expression is constantly tested, the arrival of Freedom Express is both an act of courage and a message of hope.”
