Hyderabad, Feb 23: Fuzail Ahmad Ayyubi, Advocate on Record, Supreme court of India and Nadeem Khan, National Secretary of Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) will be addressing a seminar on ‘The pursuit of legal justice’ here on February 24.
The programme is scheduled at 6.30 p.m. at FICCI, Federation House, Federation Marg, Red Hills.
Prof Kodandaram, Member of Telangana Legislative Council, Amir Ali Khan, Member of Telangana Legislative Council and Editor of Urdu daily Siasat, Kaniza Garari, executive editor of News Meter website, Prof. Padmaja Shaw, retired professor of journalism, Osmania University and Afsar Jahan, advocate and vice-president of APCR, Telangana chapter will also address the seminar.
APCR is a non-profit and non-governmental organization working with a team of lawyers, social activists and grassroots paralegal volunteers to achieve an egalitarian just society by bridging the gap between law and justice.
To encourage democratic dialogue, the organisation offers free legal assistance, financial support, and spread legal education through the organisation of seminars, workshops, and joint gatherings.
The organization, which was established in 2006, has released reports of acts of large-scale violence and hate crimes. It provided free legal services to the underprivileged part of society.
Fuzail Ahmad Ayyubi, who will be one the key speakers at the seminar, has 20 years of legal experience. Known for his diligent representation in significant cases concerning Assam NRC, Tablighi Jamaat, Gyanvapi, critical minority rights and underprivileged communities. His chamber has been involved in various notable proceedings before the Supreme court.
Ayyubi’s practice extends to addressing electoral challenges including issues related to delimitation and ensuring fair representation of the electorate.
Nadeem Khan is a prominent human rights activist who is also the founder of UAH (United Against Hate). His activism extends various communal violence incidents including Bihar communal violence, Ram Navami communal violence and Kasganj communal violence of 2018. He visited and engaged with at least 85 percent of hate crimes affected victim families.
Nadeem Khan played an important role in documenting the consequences of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Assam by releasing the first comprehensive report in 2018. The report focussed on 14 districts of Assam affected by NRC and was released in various states including Telangana.
