Gaza Genocide: Palestinian Journalist Killed in Israeli Airstrike Hours After Becoming Father

The death toll of journalists killed during the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza has tragically reached 214, following the killing of Palestinian journalist Yahya Sobeih in an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday. Another journalist, Nour Al-Din Matar Abdo, was also killed during a bombardment in the Al-Tuffah neighbourhood, east of Gaza City, reported the Maktoob Media.

Sobeih lost his life just five hours after celebrating the birth of his newborn child. His final social media post was a heartfelt tribute to his baby.
The Government Media Office has issued a strong condemnation of what it calls the “systematic targeting, killing, and assassination” of Palestinian journalists by Israeli forces.
“We urge the International Federation of Journalists, the Federation of Arab Journalists, and all press bodies worldwide to raise their voices against these repeated crimes against Palestinian media professionals in Gaza,” the statement read.
The statement went on to hold the Israeli occupation, the U.S. government, and all allied countries—including the UK, Germany, and France—responsible for what it called a “heinous and brutal crime.”
Over 102 people were killed across Gaza in the past 24 hours alone, according to local officials.
According to the Watson Institute’s Costs of War project, more journalists have been killed in Gaza during this war than in World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, the Yugoslav wars, and the U.S. war in Afghanistan—combined.
