6 May 2024: Ghalib Institute, based in New Delhi, has commenced its online Urdu and Persian classes. The aim of these classes is to familiarize individuals with the fundamentals of Urdu and Persian languages.
The inauguration of these classes was conducted by former President of the Urdu Department at Jamia Millia Islamia, Professor Khalid Mahmood, at the Ghalib Institute on May 1st. In his address, he emphasized the importance of language as a fundamental necessity, highlighting its role in professional endeavors. He congratulated Ghalib Institute for recognizing the significance of basic education by organizing online courses.
Presiding over the event, Professor Siddiqur Rahman Qidwai, Secretary of Ghalib Institute, expressed his pleasure at the diverse initiatives of Ghalib Institute, emphasizing that educational activities at the institute extend beyond academic discussions and seminars to include the provision of fundamental education in Urdu and Persian.
Speaking as a special guest, Dr. Najma Rahmani, President of Delhi University, commended Ghalib Institute as an active organization in promoting Urdu, expressing her delight at the initiation of these courses. She stressed the necessity of basic education, asserting that without it, higher education remains incomplete. She also highlighted the unique influence of Urdu on individuals, especially in understanding the Ganga-Jamuni culture.
Dr. Idris Ahmed, Director of Ghalib Institute, reiterated that the introduction of Urdu and Persian classes is not a new initiative for the institute. He expressed satisfaction in observing the progress of previous participants and their enthusiasm. He praised the efforts of the Urdu and Persian instructors, particularly Mr. Tahir ul Hassan, for their dedication to teaching and mentoring students.
The feedback from previous sessions has been encouraging, instilling confidence in the success of this session. Mr. Tahirul Hasan, the Urdu and Persian instructor, emphasized the allure of Urdu as a language, asserting its ability to enhance one’s personality, and highlighted how learning Persian alongside Urdu simplifies the understanding of linguistic intricacies. He expressed confidence in the upcoming session, expecting a similarly positive experience.
This launch marks another step forward for Ghalib Institute in its mission to promote linguistic education and cultural understanding.
