Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad district administration has demolished another madrasa in the Masuri area, intensifying debate over recent actions involving Muslim religious institutions in Uttar Pradesh.
Authorities used bulldozers to remove Faiz-e-Aam Madrasa Misbah-ul-Uloom in Kushaliya village. Officials stated that the structure stood on government land reserved for a public pathway and qualified as an illegal encroachment. Revenue officials, police personnel, and senior administrators supervised the operation under heavy security deployment.
According to the administration, the land occupied by the madrasa carries an estimated market value of around Rs 1 crore. Officials said the institution was constructed by Yameen, son of Gani, and action followed legal procedures against alleged encroachment on government property.
The demolition comes days after heightened tensions in the district following the Surya Pratap Chauhan murder case. Members of the Muslim community have expressed concern over what they describe as increasing action against madrasas, mosques, and mazars across the state.
The latest operation follows the demolition of Madrasa Jamia Arabia Ishaatul Islam in Kallugarhi village on June 3. Officials alleged that the institution occupied between 12 and 15 acres of Gram Sabha land valued at nearly Rs 25 crore. Authorities said the demolition took place under court orders and provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Reforms Rules, 1952.
Residents and community members have questioned the timing of the recent demolitions, arguing that Muslim institutions appear to face repeated scrutiny. Some have linked growing anxiety within the community to the sequence of events following the Chauhan murder case.
The administration has rejected allegations of bias. Officials maintain that the campaign targets illegal encroachments and applies legal standards without regard to religion. Authorities also stated that notices were issued before demolition and opportunities were provided for voluntary removal of the alleged encroachments.
The administration has further announced investigations into funding sources linked to demolished madrasa structures and said legal proceedings against those responsible remain ongoing.
