Ghaziabad Police Arrest Two for Plot to Incite Communal Unrest

-Zaina Aman
Ghaziabad Police have arrested two people for a conspiracy to incite communal violence before Holi. Yogendra Chaudhary and Shivam allegedly planted buffalo meat in a gaushala to frame its owner. The plan aimed to create religious tensions and seize control of the disputed cowshed.
The case involves Shriram Gaushala in Lohia Nagar. On March 12, Pawan Tomar, an animal rights activist, got a tip-off about cow meat in the shelter. He informed Sihani Gate Police, who reached the site on March 13. A forensic test at the Government Veterinary Hospital confirmed it was buffalo meat, disproving claims of cow slaughter.
Police found that Chaya Sharma, daughter of Nandkishore, masterminded the plot. She conspired with her friend Yogesh Chaudhary, an HCL employee, and two others, Rishabh and Shivam. Their goal was to frame Nandkishore’s brother-in-law and take over the Shiv Chandi Temple’s gaushala. Both shelters involved were owned by relatives.
Chaya Sharma reportedly contacted Yogesh Chaudhary and bought 8 kg of buffalo meat for ₹2,400 from a man named Shahrukh. She had the meat planted in her uncle’s gaushala. Later, she tipped off the Gau Raksha Dal, expecting a confrontation and her uncle’s arrest. But the plan failed when police uncovered the truth.
The arrested suspects admitted following Chaya Sharma’s instructions. Their goal was to frame the current management for cow slaughter, which could lead to serious legal and social consequences. Shivam revealed that Yogesh used a new phone number to inform Pawan Tomar. The number was deactivated soon after, raising suspicions.
With two arrests made, police are investigating if more people were involved. They are also probing past attempts to create similar disturbances. Ghaziabad Police have promised strict action against those inciting communal violence.
