GIO UP East Launches Nationwide ‘Embracing Femininity’ Campaign to Promote Identity, Confidence among Young Women

Lucknow: The Girls Islamic Organisation (GIO), Uttar Pradesh East, has launched its month-long nationwide campaign titled “Embracing Femininity” at the Lucknow Press Club, aiming to encourage young women to embrace their identity with confidence while promoting a balanced understanding of femininity in the light of Islamic values.

The campaign, which will run from August 1 to August 31, seeks to inspire young women to recognise their true identity, dignity, purpose in life, and social responsibility. It also aims to foster a positive, comprehensive, and balanced concept of femininity rooted in Islamic teachings.

Throughout the month, GIO will organise educational, training, outreach, and public engagement programmes across various districts, cities, and educational institutions in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Introducing the organisation, Tasfiya Sana, Assistant Media Secretary of GIO Uttar Pradesh East, highlighted the group’s ongoing initiatives in educational institutions and communities. She said GIO has consistently worked to promote character building, leadership development, social awareness, and community service among young women.

Inaugurating the campaign, Momina Afaf Tayyabati, Zonal President of GIO Uttar Pradesh East, outlined the campaign’s objectives, stating that its primary goal is to help young women realise that femininity is a beautiful and integral part of their natural identity.

She said the campaign encourages women to confidently embrace their inherent identity and build well-rounded personalities based on self-awareness and dignity.

Tayyabati added that the initiative is a serious effort to highlight the unique abilities of women, their dignified status, and their constructive role in society. At the same time, she said, the campaign invites young women to critically and thoughtfully examine both Western liberal narratives and patriarchal attitudes prevalent in society, enabling them to adopt a balanced perspective based on moderation, dignity, and justice rather than either extreme.

She further noted that the campaign also aims to establish a supportive network and resource platform that promotes emotional well-being, mutual support, encouragement, and collective growth among young women.

During the event, Zainab Al-Ghazali Tayyabati, Secretary of the Women’s Wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Uttar Pradesh East, and Sahifa Khan, former Zonal President of GIO Uttar Pradesh East and editor of the Abha e-magazine, jointly unveiled the campaign’s official logo.

At the launch, GIO appealed to young female students and women to actively participate in the campaign, engage with the organisation’s social media platforms, take part in its various activities, and help spread its message to a wider audience.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing confident, principled, value-driven, and socially responsible young women capable of making meaningful contributions to their families, communities, and the nation.
