Global Scholars Highlight Role of Morality in Achieving True Freedom at International Webinar

The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Women’s Department hosted an international webinar titled “Morality is Freedom,” on Sunday, featuring an esteemed panel of scholars and activists from around the world. The event, broadcast live on YouTube from 8:00 to 10:00 PM IST, sparked a meaningful dialogue on the pivotal role of morality in securing genuine freedom in society.

The webinar brought together leading voices who shared their perspectives on how moral principles serve as the foundation for true freedom and empowerment.

Dr. Nevine Ahmed, Former President of MAB West Midlands, opened the discussion by asserting that morality is essential for maintaining societal order and protecting human dignity.

“Without a moral compass, freedom turns into chaos, leading to the erosion of human dignity,” she remarked, emphasizing the importance of integrating ethical values into both personal and public life.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Magda Ismail Abdel Mohsin from INCEIF Malaysia discussed the critical role of financial ethics in establishing economic justice, highlighting that true freedom cannot exist without a strong moral framework.

Dr. Teresa Lesher, Associate Professor at PAAET, Kuwait, warned of the moral challenges posed by rapid technological advancements. She advocated for a balanced approach to technology that preserves human values and fosters ethical progress.

Rahamathunnisa A, National Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, delivered a powerful statement on the role of morality in leadership.

“Ethical leadership is the cornerstone of environments where freedom can truly flourish, especially for the marginalized,” she emphasized. Her words resonated strongly, underscoring the need for moral integrity in those who hold positions of power.

Ustadha Ameena Blake, Chaplain at The University of Sheffield, UK, explored the spiritual aspects of freedom, arguing that true liberation requires nurturing the soul through ethical practices.

Sameena Afshan, Program Convener and Editor of Aura e-Magazine, compered the discussions, calling for a global dialogue on redefining freedom with a strong ethical foundation. She emphasized the importance of collective efforts in aligning freedom with universal moral standards.

The webinar was an important event, providing a platform for thoughtful reflection on the essential connection between morality and true freedom. The diverse insights from the speakers offered valuable guidance on how societies can achieve real empowerment through a commitment to ethical values.
