Dr. R.S. Chauhan and Dr. Sheikh Ibrahim Waqif Receive Hakim Ajmal Khan International Award
New Delhi: The All India Unani Tibbi Congress has officially announced the Global Unani Medicine Day Awards 2024 following the approval of its national president, Professor Mushtaq Ahmad. A meeting chaired by Dr. Shakeel Ahmad was held today in Daryaganj, New Delhi, where the awards were declared, and preparations for the upcoming award ceremony on February 12 in Delhi were reviewed.
This year’s prestigious awards include Dr. A.U. Azmi Lifetime Achievement Award to Prof. Ahmad Nadeem Khan (Aligarh), Abul Qasim Zahrawi International Award for Surgery to Prof. Akhtar Hussain Chaudhary (Pune), Zakariya Razi International Award for Infectious Diseases to Prof. N. Fahema (Sri Lanka), Ibn Sina International Award for Unani Research and Development to Dr. Bilal Ahmad (CCRUM, New Delhi), Hakim Ajmal Khan International Award for National Integration to Dr. R.S. Chauhan (New Delhi), Hakim Ajmal Khan International Award for Unani Promotion and Development to Dr. Sheikh Ibrahim Waqif (Nagpur), Hakim Altaf Ahmad Azmi International Award for Teaching and Unani Medical Services to Prof. Mohammad Yunus Siddiqui (Deoband), Hakim Abdul Razzak International Award for Unani Research to Dr. Farah Ahmad (CCRUM, New Delhi), Allama Kabiruddin International Award for Writing and Teaching to Dr. Mohammad Arshad Jamal (NIUM, Bengaluru), Hakim Syed Ishtiaq Ahmad International Award for Unani Teaching and Advocacy to Prof. Khurshid Ahmad (Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi), Dr. Alia Aman International Award for Teaching and Organisational Leadership to Dr. Ayesha Raza (Tibbiya College, Karol Bagh, New Delhi), Dr. Ummul Fazl International Award for Unani Research (Pharmacology) to Dr. Ayesha Siddiqui (Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi), Hakim Ilyas Khan Sharwani International Award for Education and Training to Prof. Saqib Hussain (Akluj, Maharashtra), Hakim Ram Labhaya International Award for Unani Teaching and Promotion to Dr. Jaleel Ahmad Ghulam Rasool (ZVM, Pune), Hakim Abdul Hameed International Award for Clinical Practice and Unani Advocacy to Dr. Sabahatullah (Amroha), Hakim Abdullah International Award for Unani Promotion and Publication to Dr. Parvez Ahmad Warisi (Jaipur), Hakim Ziauddin Zia International Award for Pharmacology (Clinical Practice) to Dr. Nasir Ahmad (Sambhal), Hakim Abdul Aziz Khan International Award for Unani Research to Dr. Anwar Jamal (New Delhi), and Hakim Sinanullah Amrohvi International Award for Clinical Excellence to Dr. Mirza Asif Baig (New Delhi).
Additionally, the Hakim Ajmal Khan Superstar of Unani Medicine Award will be conferred upon several distinguished Unani practitioners and scholars, including Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Dr. Shabnam, Dr. Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, Dr. Mufti Javed Anwar, Dr. Afroz Talib, Dr. Faheem Malik, Dr. Mohammad Arif Saifi, Hakim Aftab Alam, and many more from across the country.
For excellence in pharmaceutical standards, the Hakim Ajmal Khan Pharmacy Award will be presented to Sadiq Yaqoob Babla (Buldhana), Advanced Pakiza Unani (Pune), and Simla Pharmacy (Hyderabad).
Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, founder-convener of Global Unani Medicine Day and Secretary General of the All India Unani Tibbi Congress, expressed his satisfaction over the growing recognition of Unani medicine. He highlighted that the Government of India has now officially acknowledged the contributions of Maseeh-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan, a renowned freedom fighter and medical pioneer, by commemorating National Unani Medicine Day annually. He emphasised that the initiative started in 2011 by the Congress has significantly contributed to this recognition.
