Godan Teaser Sparks Muslim Protests, Boycott Calls Intensify

New Delhi: The teaser of the Hindi film Godan, directed by Amit Prajapati, has triggered strong protests from Muslim scholars and opposition leaders. They say the film presents Muslims as villains and adds to social hostility. The film is scheduled for release on February 6.

Soon after the teaser appeared online, criticism spread across social media and public forums. Community leaders described the visuals as hurtful and biased. They pointed to repeated patterns in popular cinema where Muslims appear in criminal roles.

Maulana Qari Ishaq Gora, patron of Jamiat Dawatul Muslimeen, objected to scenes showing a Muslim man in a skull cap held at gunpoint by police. He said such portrayals promote hate and harm social trust. He urged Muslims and peace minded citizens to boycott the film.

Opposition leaders joined the criticism. Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi demanded a ban on the film’s release. He said the narrative targets one community and misleads the public under the cover of cow protection.

Awasthi questioned the political messaging of the film. He pointed to official data cited in public discourse showing high levels of beef export during recent governments. He argued that blaming Muslims for cow slaughter ignores these facts. He further alleged involvement of ruling party linked figures in the meat trade and questioned selective silence on related demands.

Community leaders stressed the need for responsible cinema. They said films should encourage unity and social harmony. Repeated targeting of one group deepens division and distracts from public issues.

Muslim scholars highlighted examples of patriotism from within the community. They referred to Republic Day celebrations in madrasas and mosques across the country. They said Indian Muslims live as law abiding citizens who contribute to society.

Protesters urged the censor board to review the film. They warned against misuse of creative freedom to spread hostility. Calls for a boycott continue to grow.
